Oct 21 2010 Transfers are coming
Hi Everyone,
It has been awhile since I wrote a blog for you. Sorry!! It's the end of my 3rd transfer right now. I don't even think I told you all who my companion is! His name is Elder Taylor. He is from Louisiana! Pretty alright guy. he has been out just 3 weeks longer than me. Spanish has been pretty rough this transfer because we are both still learning. We have three baptismal dates now, but they are all set for after the next transfer and I won't be here):. And all three of them are really solid.
But I am getting transferred!! I find out where this Thursday. Pretty crazy. they did tell me I am going to be senior companion again! That is also very crazy, I went from being trained to senior. I will be put with someone who is fluent in Spanish. So that will be very sweet! The hardest thing out here has been teaching people and finding there needs and of course Spanish. And both of those together are way hard! This last District meeting they had my companion and I give training on finding needs by asking questions and listening. It all really comes down to the Spirit. If we have the Spirit with us when we teach we will be in great shape! Speaking of great shape... I am getting a pretty ugly stomach! Ha Ha. I get fed so good out here! I used to eat what ever I wanted back home, but I guess I was playing tennis a whole bunch. I do still have a year and a half left out here, it shouldn't be too hard getting back to where I was. (: We exercise every morning but only for 1/2 hour and I don't thin it adds up to all the food I eat.!
Anyway I love it out here. I know this is where I am suppose to be right now and there is no place I would rather be. The Church is true and I love finding people to share it with. the Atonement of Jesus Christ is real and if you allow him to help you, he will. The Book of Mormon can truly change your life and has all the answers. i know that when we pray we are speaking to our Heavenly Father and if we do it sincerely with faith, believing that he will answer us, I promise that he will.
I love you all and I hope all is well! I miss everyone and I will see you in 18 months.

August 24 2010 Stories
1st story: We were tracting and ran into an older guy in is 80's out mowing his lawn.We started asking him about his beliefs and he said he stopped believing in God about 20 yrs ago. We talked to him about Juesus Christ and the message we share and all of a sudden he started to go off on how Jesus wasn't resurrected and how he passed out on the cross when he saw all the blood. Hah and then he said when they took him to the tomb he just woke up and became cautious again! Such a crazy guy! Then we told him about Joseph Smith and the 1st vision. He told us it wasn't Heavenly Father and Jesus that appeared to him. He said the pillar of light was from a flying saucer, and that aliens were coming to try and take Joseph away! Haha. He says that aliens put us here on the earth! What a funny guy.
2nd story:We met a guy named Tom. He is a former investigator. We taught him a 1st lesson about the restoration of the Gospel. A little background on the guy. He is in his 40's or 50's, and he is writing a book about "life". Not only the scientific part, but how we are all spriritually connected. He believes that there is a God, but that wveryone can think of him how they want and what works best for them. We talked to him about Prophets and he believes that God works through people, but not just one Prophet. As we were teaching him I could really feel the spirit there. I felt that we were testifying and telling him what he needed to hear. It was such a great felling to know we were teaching with the spirit and that God was working through us. As we were teaching him, inspiration came to me to tell Tom something and right as I was about to say it, my companion said the exact same words that had come to me. It was so awesome to see how the spirit prompted both of us and dpt us on the same page. The Spirit really helped us to be unified and teach together. Tom didn't want to pray with us or read about our message, but he told us that he knew that God had sent us and he could tell that we were sharing things from the heart. Its times like these that make a Mission so awesome, and know that Heavenly Father is working through us. We just planted a seed for the future.

Letter from Elder Sky
Hello,
I have been in Iowa for a month and a half now. Everything has been pretty sweet. The members feed us so much and their food is always amazing! Hopefully I don't gain too much weight. Ha ha. About 2 weeks ago I was able to go to Nauvoo again with a recent convert. We got to be there all day and see everything! Nauvoo is such an awesome place, and the people who lived there back in the day were amazing people. We got to see the Nauvoo Pageant and wow it was sweeeet! The story of Joseph Smith is unreal. He was such an amazing man. If anyone has the chance next summer to see it, I would recommend seeing it. While I was there I saw a friend from Provo, Laura Sudweeks!! Her family was in the show. Anyway, Iowa is the place to be! Lots of corn an tractors... and corn...and no mountains anywhere! Hah. Missionary work is a lot of fun, we run into so many different people. We have been teaching a lot of great people, but most haven't quite been ready yet. It is tough finding people who are ready.. But about a week ago we taught a woman whose son is a member and went on a mission to Salt Lake! Wooo. Anyway she just started coming to church 4 weeks ago and loves it! The first lesson we taught her we committed her to baptism, and set a goal for Aug 28th. She said if she gets an answer by then she will be baptised, so that is our main focus right now. She is a great lady and really wants to know if the things we teach her are true.
Spanish work is still hard to find. I have taught 2 Spanish lessons since I have been here, and I had to teach both by myself because I was on exchanges with and English Missionary! ROUGH! My Spanish is coming along but very slowly... I try to speak it as much as I can but it is tough. Hopefully we will find more people to teach.
Welp, that's a little bit of what has been going on with me. :) I miss you all, and hope you're all doing grrreat!!

A session at the Nauvoo Temple Wow!!
I got to do a session at the Nauvoo Temple with my companion Elder Holman...It was so amazing. The coolest thing ever.
I'M IN IOWA!!!! June 28
Hey everyone! I'm in Iowa now and things are going pretty good. We don't have a lot of people to teach right now but we are working hard trying to find some! The other day we were tracting and ran into a lady and started talking to her. She sounded somewhat interested and told us to go over to her house and wait for her and that she would be back in 5 minutes. So we walked to the house she said was hers and knocked. a little girl answered the door and we asked if the woman lived there? She said no, so we started talking to the family that lived there and they said we could come in and teach them! When we got in, we started to talk to them and they said they have talked with the missionaries before, and that they have read some of the book of Mormon and have even attended our Church. We taught them the first lesson and it went awesome! At the end we asked if we could come back next week and teach them more and they said yes! So this week we are going back to teach them some more. It is crazy that some random lady lied to us, but that led us right to where we needed to go. I have had some awesome experiences out here already and can't wait to have more! My companion is Elder Skyler Holman. He is on High School Musical just in case you wanted to know. He is a cool guy and we are having fun. I miss everyone at home and hope everything is going well.

Hi Family and Friends
Hello everyone, so last night Jeffrey R. Holland spoke at devotional. he gave the best talk I have heard. He talked about how missionary work has grown so much, and it is all because of preach my gospel. He talked about how missionaries used to just memorize everything and they truely never knew the Gospel. He talked about how being obedient invites the spirit and the only way we will convert investigators is if we teach with the spirit. So I am trying to be obedient so I can have the constant companionship of the holy ghost. I have already had experiences of teaching with the spirit. I am always nervous before I teach, but through out our lesson I just know what to say because of the spirit. It is awesome! There is no way that this Gospel isn't true. Jeffrey R. Holland wouldn't give up everything for a fairy tale. I know that I am doing the Lords work and he expects somuch from me. He has given me everything and I am excited to give a little back. I know this is where I am supposed to be and there is know place I would rather be. I love you all and hope all is going well.

2nd week in the MTC
Hello Family,
Things are going pretty good here so far. It's not too bad, but it is hard work!
My whole district and zone are way sweet and we get a new district coming in today. Spanish is coming along pretty well. I have just started to understand a little better.
Last night we had a devotional with Elder L. Tom Perry and his wife. It was sooo amazing and my faith grew a lot!! I can't wait to get out into the field and start this.
Good bye and love you all

P.S. Tyler Haws came into the MTC this last week. He plays for BYU
